Overview

Loading... has arrived in the brand-new Wandering Travelers Selection Pack. This seemingly innocent card is a huge consistency boost for a lot of decks if you know how to use it, which is why we're here today.

What's a Small World

Before we get started, let's gasp read the titular card in question:

Small World

Small World

Normal Spell Card

Reveal 1 monster in your hand, choose 1 monster from your Deck that has exactly 1 of the same Type, Attribute, Level, ATK or DEF, and banish the revealed monster from your hand face-down. Then add, from the Deck to your hand, 1 monster that has exactly 1 of the same Type, Attribute, Level, ATK or DEF as the monster chosen from your Deck, and banish the card chosen from the Deck face-down. You can only activate 1 "Small World" per turn.

So, this card is definitely a mouthful. Let's try to break it down a little bit. You:

  1. Reveal 1 monster in your hand, choose a monster that shares only one of the following characteristics in your deck:

    • Type
    • Attribute
    • Level
    • ATK
    • DEF Then banish the revealed monster from your hand face-down.
  2. Add a card to your hand that shares only one of the following characteristics from the monster chosen from your deck in Step 1:

    • Type
    • Attribute
    • Level
    • ATK
    • DEF Then banish the chosen monster from your deck face-down.

Example

So, lets use a real-world example. Let's start by activating Loading... and revealing a card that everyone should know:

Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring
  • Zombie Type
  • FIRE Attribute
  • Level 3
  • 0 ATK
  • 1800 DEF

We can then choose a card from our Deck that matches only one of these characteristics with Loading... , then banish Ash Blossom from our hand:

Effect Veiler
  • Spellcaster Type
  • LIGHT Attribute
  • Level 1
  • 0 ATK
  • 0 DEF

We then can add a card to our hand that only matches one characteristic with Effect Veiler before banishing the Veiler from our deck. This allows us to add a card you all know and love to our hand

Aleister the Invoker
  • Spellcaster Type
  • DARK Attribute
  • Level 4
  • 1000 ATK
  • 1800 DEF

What have we done here? As far as our hand is concerned we used Loading... and Loading... and added Loading... to our hand. With proper deck construction, Small World is functionally a Loading... for any monster in the game.

How to use Small World

While obviously being able to search any monster in the game could be a huge potential boost for any Deck in the game, your deck needs to be able to make Loading... work for you. While Decks like Madolche for example get off easy, essentially using Loading... (A card that is in almost every Deck in Master Duel) to get from any 1 Madolche monster to almost any other Madolche Monster (since the common ones are Level 4 Earth Fairies / Spellcasters), other decks might struggle to use Small World effectively. In the above example, Maxx "C" is usually referred to as a "Bridge" monster, used to get from the first banish to the card you add to your hand. Another example of a common bridge monster that will see a lot more play with Small World is Loading... , who boasts a weird typing of WIND Beast and the most common Level of 4 (it helps that it's also a generic extender if need be so its not a dead draw in hand). Depending on your deck, you can easily find your own bridge monsters to allow Small World to work for you!
