Hi! I'm Misty, you probably know me as the only person that believes this deck has a chance of being rogue when built and played properly. Today I'm here to show you all how much an underpowered deck can be improved by some creative tinkering with strong support engines :3

A very special thanks to

for helping with formatting, and the regulars from the mdm discord Nouvelles channel that are always up for bouncing ideas around.

Introduction

Based on a fusion of french cooking and demons from the Ars Goetia, Nouvelles is a gimmicky ritual deck based around protecting your ritual monsters while extending by tributing the opponents attack position monsters. With the additional gimmick of having card advantage in your odd level ritual cards and interactions on your even level rituals.

What Is a Nouvelles Deck?

Historically played as a 60 cards pile to abuse its ability to spam the board and access generic plays, Nouvelles' new support allows it to be played as a tighter engine in 40-card lists with a more modern approach, abusing strong support engines and its own card advantage to assemble a cohesive board while having non engine and no requiring over-extension.

The archetype has a lot of search and draw power, a decent amount of spam potential, and very strong possible end-board pieces. It's weakness lies in being fairly linear and not having anything to extend into inside its own archetype. It also requires multiple cards to combo, thus being vulnerable to handtraps when played by itself, making your ceiling low and its combo fragile despite it's consistency.

Archetypal Cards

This is one of those archetypes that uses two separate naming conventions for its search effects. Loading... only adds a Nouvelles card to your hand, Loading... only adds a Recipe card, and Loading... can add either. This makes it important to distinguish which Spells/Traps are Nouvelles cards, which are Recipe cards, and which are neither.

Nouvelles Cards

These are the cards that can be searched through cards that search nouvelles, like chef, the lvl 1 and 5, and book.

Nouvelles Pendulums

Chef de nouvelles (aka. chef)
A light fiend that is a generic searcher and allows you to pass with some plays under droll or maxx c. It will rarely do anything outside of its pendulum effect turn 1.

It's worth noting that it's level modulation effect can be used as disruption against xyz, synchro, and ritual decks that need exact levels (like mitsurugi). It also works as an extension on your fiendsmith lines against any effects that summon (mainly nib and bystials). It is highly searchable and doesn't provide you with tribute fodder on turn 1.

Play 1 in 40 cards lists and 2 on 60 cards lists (or on fiendsmith if you want a heavier engine).

Poissoniere de nouvelles (aka. poisso)
Poissonniere de Nouvelles
Pre-support this was one of our best starters by functioning as an in archetype Loading... . With the new search power and the ability to cut bricks, she isn't worth your normal summon anymore and is now mainly a brick to enable concour that can also serve as an extender in a pinch.

One copy is enough in most lean lists, but 2 can be fine in heavier engines and decks with higher card counts.
