Overview

Welcome to the show! Elfnotes is the new addition to the Medius Lore and is an archetype revolving around Singers that love the spotlight and Synchro Summoning. Each of the main deck girls care about switching to the Center Main Monster Zone to proc various effects and can Synchro climb into powerful level 7 and 10 Synchros with the Elfnote Power Patron. Alongside staple engines like Fiendsmith, the Elfnotes are shaping up to make a grand debut in Masterduel.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths

  1. Variety of Interactions - Thanks to the individual monsters each having their own unique effects, as well as a powerful continuous trap in Rhapsodia, Elfnotes sets up boards with a blend of interactions capable of handling almost any deck.

  2. Resistance to low impact HTs - Due to the nature of cards like Loading... and Loading... , the deck is capable of playing through handtraps like Ash and Imperm with ease.

  3. Non-Engine Space - Thanks to the variety of starters the deck has, Elfnotes has a ton of room for either Non-Engine or other sub engines to help boost its going second capabilities.

  4. Room to Grow - As a member of the Medius Lore, Elfnotes is sure to benefit from either direct support in the form of Loading... or generic Medius support in the form of Loading... . This makes Elfnotes a safe investment for the future.

Weaknesses

  1. Awkwardness into Fuwa/Maxx "C" - While there are lines around cards like Fuwa, these mostly rely on 2 card combos and still give at least 1 draw to set up a minimal board.

  2. Weak Engine going second - Much like a lot of combo decks in the format, the gameplan going second is to completely stop your opponent from playing. The Elfnote engine itself isn't great at pushing through established boards as the Power Patron is vulnerable to removable, cutting you off Synchros.

  3. Wait, they still make locks? - Unlike a lot of modern archetypes, Elfnote has various cards that lock you into Synchros, limiting the type of engines you can supplement your deck with.

  4. Middle Monster Madness - Due to each of the main Elfnote girls needing to special summon to the Middle Main Monster Zone, you can find yourself auto losing to wonky matchups that give you tokens like Orcust, or ones that block certain zones like Kashtira. Just hope that they don't know what you're playing I suppose.

NOTE: For the rest of this guide, I will be shortering "Center Main Monster Zone" to "Center MMZ" for the sake of brevity.

Core Engine

Our Main Performers

Each of our 3 main Elfnote girls share similar effects. They all have the ability to special summon themselves to your Center MMZ once per turn and an ignition effect to further our combos. They also share an effect that they can activate on their opponents turn to move to the Center MMZ and apply various effects. Your goal over the course of your turn will be to have all three girls either on field or in GY, ready to take center stage on your opponent's turn.

Elfnote Lucina

Elfnote Lucina
The best starter of the trio, Lucina allows you to add an Elfnote Monster from deck to hand, usually Elfnote Power Patron or Elfnote Regina. This makes her the best way to start your plays as she avoids locking you into Synchros too early.

On your opponent's turn, she can move to your Center MMZ to then bounce one Level 6 or Lower monster on your opponent's field (Technically Level 9 or Lower but more on that later.)

Elfnote Tinia

Elfnote Tinia
Our only other starter of the main trio, Tinia allows you to place an Elfnote Continuous Spell from your deck to the field, bypassing cards like Loading... and Loading... . This is always going to be Elfnote Welcome Home, meaning you will most likely be locked into Synchros for the rest of the turn.

On your opponent's turn, Lucina can move to the Center MMZ to banish a random card from your opponent's hand until the End Phase. This is best used late in your opponent's turn to ensure you hit a powerful engine piece or extender.

Elfnote Fortuna

Elfnote Fortuna
While she isn't a starter on her own, Fortuna might be the most important member of our trio. She can place a Elfnote Continuous Trap from your deck to the field, which will always be Loading... . This card is both vital to the main combos and the endboard, making Fortuna crucial to access over the course of the combo.

On your opponent's turn, Fortuna can move to the Center MMZ to bounce a face up Spell/Trap from your opponent's field. While this is the most niche effect of our trio, it can come up against decks that need to resolve a Continuous or Field Spell.

The Lead Singer

Elfnote Power Patron

Elfnote Power Patron
Elfnote Power Patron is what truly makes our deck hum. When used as Synchro material he adds any Elfnote card from deck to the hand, allowing access to our powerful main deck monsters. While he does lock into Synchros, he only locks while on field, enabling you to Synchro summon using him as material and thus unlocking yourself. His level modulation effect is what allows Elfnote to access a variety of powerful Synchro bosses, as well as summoning certain Synchros on your opponent's turn (more on that later.)
