Title

Blitzclique is a deck of EARTH Thunder monsters released in Chaos Origins. The deck centers around a ragtag group of scavengers, living on a floating base high above a presumably dystopian world below. They use the power of electricity to defend the hideout and loot the desert surface, fighting against Mechbeasts of unknown origin.

The deck has a reactive, low to the ground, control-y playstyle, similar to decks like Vanquish Soul or Fire King. During events live coverage commentators kept comparing the deck to Gadgets, but for those of us who weren't playing at the time, I think the modern comparisons are more helpful.

This is a deck that I have had an absolute blast playing in the TCG, and I have found it to be quite capable as a strategy. The main gameplay loop is using your Blitzclique effects to destroy your opponent's cards, and gain advantage over the course of the game until you can eventually wipe them out.

I hope you find this guide helpful in understanding what makes this deck special, and if you have any questions, head on over to the Blitzclique channel on the MDM Discord.

recon

Blitzclique cards come in three flavours: Monsters, Spells and Traps. Each of these card types have a specific structure to them common throughout the archetype, that I think would be helpful to explain now.

Monsters

  • The first effect on each Blitz monster will be the condition with which it can Special Summon itself or another Thunder monster from hand. These effects will lock you into only Special Summoning Effect monsters from hand for the rest of the turn. When this lock comes up in the guide, I will indicate it with LOCK.
  • The second effect will be an on-field effect triggered if a card is destroyed (except for Whisker). These effects can be triggered on either player’s turn, and allow for continuous resource gain throughout a duel.

Spells

  • The Blitz spells have more variance in their effects, but share a common Graveyard ability. While in the GY, if a card is destroyed by a Blitzclique card effect, you can add the spell card back to hand. This helps with both the grind, as well as chainblocking your Blitz monsters on-field effects.

  • This effect is hard once per turn for each Blitz spell.

Traps

  • The Blitz traps are all Continuous Traps, and have a first effect that supports your Blitz monsters on board, either by making them immune to destruction or by weakening your opponents monsters.

  • The second effect will involve returning a Blitzclique monster from field to deck/hand to trigger an effect.

  • The third effect will be able to be activated in the GY, banishing the trap to trigger an add from deck/field/GY to hand.

  • Unlike the spells, there is no way to recover the Blitz traps from GY, so use them wisely.
